A fantastic ride through some of the Peak District’s most scenic roads, culminating in a visit to the renowned Oil Can Café at The Carding Shed, Holmfirth.

Our route heads through Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire before reaching the stunning Monsal Dale Viaduct, where we’ll stop for refreshments and enjoy the spectacular views. There will be time to stroll across the viaduct and take in one of the Peak District’s most iconic landmarks.
From there, we’ll continue along some fantastic winding roads through the heart of the Peak District before arriving at the Oil Can Café for lunch. The café is famous for its generous portions, unique atmosphere, classic vehicle displays, and automotive memorabilia.
Ride Details
- Windmill Farm to first stop at Monsal Dale Viaduct: 60 miles, approximately 1½ hours.
- Monsal Dale to Oil Can Café: 36 miles, approximately 1 hour.
- Total distance: Approximately 136 miles.
- Return route: M1, M18 and A1(M).
- Finish: Blyth Services, A1(M) Southbound.
- Estimated arrival: 4:15pm.
Things to Note
- Free parking is available behind the Monsal Dale pub stop, with nearby paid parking if required.
- A short section of motorway riding is included on the way out so we can make best progress.
- The route features a challenging uphill hairpin bend, requiring care and low-speed control.
